There are many important things to consider when choosing the photographer for
your wedding. Start early in your planning because many of the best wedding
photographers sometimes are booked a year in advance.
A great place to start is getting recommendations from friends who have been
married recently. Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. So
be careful in your selection. Your wedding album is an investment that will grow more
valuable as the years go by. After the cake is gone, the flowers have wilted, and the
music is no longer playing, the photos will rekindle the excitement of the day for the
rest of your life.
If you have no word of mouth recommendations, start searching for established
photographers in your area. Search online but don't overlook the yellow pages or
photographers with displays at bridal shops, florists, caterers and so forth.
Go and meet the photographers. Get their prices, and view their work. Ask all the
questions that you can think of. If the studio has more than one photographer, ask to
meet with the one that will be available for your wedding day. Personality plays a big
part in make your wedding photography an enjoyable experience. When we say
personality, we mean both yours and the photographer's. You both need to be
comfortable with each other.
Experience counts! Nearly everyone has a friend with a nice camera that takes pretty
good pictures. But there is no substitute for a properly lit, properly exposed, properly
posed photograph. You only get one chance for great wedding photos. Don't risk it
just to save a few dollars.
Be sure your photographer has back-up equipment. Equipment can break but a true
professional will always be able to continue on with back-up equipment.
Most all wedding photographers have websites and email addresses. Choose those
who also have a place of business and local phone numbers. It is very important to
be able to meet face to face at a business location even if it is a home studio. Ask if
the photographer is a member of any professional organizations. The Arkansas
Professional Photographers Association is an organization in which it's members
adhere to a strict code of ethics. They must also have the required permits and
licenses to operate a photography business in Arkansas. Check out the Arkansas
Professional Photographers Association website for a listing of professional wedding
photographers in your area. Here is their link: http://arkansasppa.com
True professionals will always give you a guarantee of customer satisfaction. Ask
about it!
Try to find a photographer that can give you a perfect blend of traditional wedding
photography and the journalistic approach. Both are important. Traditional or
Heirloom albums are something you can share and enjoy forever. They will never go
out of style. DVD slide shows and images on CD are also add-ons which many
photographers make available. These can be scratched or damaged easily so
handle and store them with great care.
Have your images posted online so that your out of town guests and relatives can
view and order prints from them if they would like.
Hire a professional wedding photographer to record and capture this most important
day of your life. Professional wedding photos are not expensive, they are priceless!
